Baer Eradispeed Rotors
EradiSpeed (e rad’
i speed) high performance, direct replacement rotors are cast with
an integral 1-piece hat or hub/hat section just like the original
OEM rotor. EradiSpeed rotors are available in vented or solid designs
to match the requirements of the vehicle. Each vented rotor is a unique
casting which employs either a directional curved vane or the patented
Kangaroo port design. All benefit from additional mass in the "firepath"
as well as a proprietary, high-friction iron formulation. Each EradiSpeed
rotor is also cross-drilled and slotted. Functional benefits of cross-drilling
and slotting include:
- Virtual elimination of "green-pad-fade" or "outgassing" which
is caused when gasses emitted from the bonding agents within the
brake pad material reach elevated temperatures
- More aggressive initial onset or "bite"
- Elimination of pad glazing
- Improved contact surface because of equalized pad surface wear
- Better wet weather performance
EradiSpeed rotors are then zinc-plated or "washed." And while this
rust-resistant finish wears off of the "firepath" during the first
300-400 miles of normal street driving, it remains to protect the
rotor surfaces not swept by the pad. EradiSpeed Direct Replacement

Baer Eradispeed+ Rotors
EradiSpeed+ (e rad’ i speed plus) versions are still direct OEM replacement
units, but the "plus" indicates rotors that are of a 2-piece, fixed
design, which results in a reduction in total hub/rotor weight. The
center "hat" or "hub/hat" portion of EradiSpeed+ rotors are CNC machined
from billet or forged aluminum. The centers are then anodized black
to finish the racing "look" and are bolted to the rotors with National
Aerospace Standard (NAS) stainless, reusable fasteners, the same hardware
used to affix the rotors to an Indy Car. Each vented rotor is a unique
casting which employs either a directional curved vane or the patented
Kangaroo port design. All benefit from additional mass in the "firepath,"
as well as a proprietary, high-friction iron formulation. Each EradiSpeed
rotor is also cross-drilled and slotted. Functional benefits of cross-drilling

2-piece Rotor Benefits:
- No change in wheels is ever required
- Dramatically reduced weight

BAER Eradispeed+1 Rotors
EradiSpeed+1 (e
rad’ i speed plus one) brake kits represent a new concept of performance
brake upgrades. They use increased diameter rotors that have been
designed to specifically complement wheel and tire packages using
18-inch and larger rim diameters. Just as wheel and tire "Plus-Sizing"
has come to mean, "the use of a wheel which is larger in diameter
than the original," EradiSpeed+1 describes a set of rotors that are
larger in diameter than the original. However the key to EradiSpeed+1
brake rotor kits is that they continue to use the stock factory calipers
by relocating them outward. This results in increased performance
(brake torque) by virtue of the increased leverage of the larger diameter
rotor. In the case of General Motors sport utility vehicles and pickup
trucks, by employing direct bolt-on replacement caliper brackets,
the EradiSpeed+1 brake kit relocates the caliper outward to allow
the use of massive, 14-inch diameter rotors in place of original 12.5-inch
rotors. This increase in diameter increases leverage, braking power
and efficiency by 17% (in the way a fulcrum and longer lever reduces
the effort of lifting an object). Thus, EradiSpeed+1 packages offer
enhanced brake appearance and braking performance, which is otherwise
lost when catching a glimpse of relatively small original brake rotors
while looking through the openings of large diameter wheels, and due
to the greater mass of large (especially 20-inch and up) wheel and
tire combinations, most of which weigh 30 to 50 pounds more per corner.
Since Baer EradiSpeed+1 upgrades employ the original factory calipers
and pads, there is little increase in noise, harshness, or dust, which
is sometimes experienced with higher performance brake pads or more
elaborate brake system upgrades. The system is fully compatible with
the vehicles original equipment ABS system. Further, EradiSpeed+1
systems install in less than 2.5 hours and do so without even bleeding
the brakes! A full EradiSpeed+1 upgrade front and rear installation
is virtually the same as removing and replacing the rotors. The same
tools and the same operations; just substitute the EradiSpeed+1 rotors,
anchor brackets and supplied OE hardware on reassembly. The factory
manual calls for a front and rear time of only 2.4 hours total, with
installation charges typically averaging less than $200 (your area
may vary). For EradiSpeed+1 applications, Baer provides all the hardware
required to move the location of the stock factory caliper outward.
In some cases an intermediate bracket is employed; in others new factory
style caliper anchor plates are provided. In all cases, except as
noted, EradiSpeed+1 upgrades install without bleeding the brakes and
some also fit the OE wheels if they are 18-inches or larger in diameter
(such as the EradiSpeed+1 brake kit for the rear of the Chevrolet
C5 Corvette). All EradiSpeed+1 rotors are larger in outer diameter
than the OE rotor they replace and many are of a 2-piece design. However,
in some cases, such as the rear of the 1999 and later GM 1/2 -ton
pickups, or 2000 and later 1/2-ton SUV applications, the rear rotor
is cast as a 1-piece design to allow the park brake mechanism, which
is a small drum located inside the rotor hat unit, to function properly.
Each EradiSpeed+1 rotor is also cross-drilled and slotted. Functional
benefits of cross-drilling and slotting include:
- Virtual elimination of "green-pad-fade" or "outgassing" which
is caused when gasses emitted from the bonding agents within the
brake pad material reach elevated temperatures
- More aggressive initial onset or "bite"
- Elimination of pad glazing
- Improved contact surface because of equalized pad surface wear
- Better wet weather performance
EradiSpeed+1 rotors are then zinc-plated or "washed." And while this
rust-resistant finish wears off of the "firepath" during the first
300-400 miles of normal street driving, it remains to protect the
rotor surfaces not swept by the pad. The result, EradiSpeed+1 upgrades
produce a brilliant visual impact that alone makes them a desirable
enhancement. Combine these powerful esthetic improvements with dynamic
braking improvements and you have...performance you can see! EradiSpeed+1
